Despite the fact that I am ultra-poor, I'm going to try to live it up in Philly this weekend. And then, when I get back, I'm selling a bunch of old textbooks/my graphing calculator/my other digital camera. And anything else I can think of. 'Cuz I have GOT to get moving on Christmas shopping.

I was watching this show last night with my roommate... it's called Bones. It's about this woman, nicknamed Bones, who does forensic anthropology, blah blah. She was figuring out what happened to this girl they found all rotted in a frigerator. Everything pointed to this couple and as it turns out, they had nonconsensually handcuffed her, tied her ankles, and kept her in the basement for three weeks. On a break from court proceedings, one of the lawyers says to Bones, "I want to put away these S/M perverts." Ugh. And worse, half the show was spent making a shaky case for BDSM being healthy and practiced by well-adjusted, sane folks... just to prove in the second half that only sickos and criminally-minded freaks would ever do that stuff. Great.

Have you ever seen The River Niger? You should. It's totally good.

I am so hungry. HUNGRY!

I'm going to a queer open mic at a book store in Bethlehem tomorrow. Maybe there will be hot queers in attendance? One can only hope.

Oh, yes, and the Passional Magazine is out today. I'll be snatching up 30 or so copies, if I can, while I'm in town this weekend.

I usually like Bones, last night's episode left me a little wanting tho.

I'm an S/M pervert and proud.

Somehow, I don't think that she meant "pervert" in the nice way. And the show totally made a shitty case for kinky folk. They were all, "Our clients played consensual sex games with what's-her-name." And then they're convicted of murder. Oh, nice. Perverts are murderers AND liars.

But ditto, I'm a perv and proud.

Yeah, I know that's how she meant it and I don't really care about her opinion. I'm actually proud to be a part of something that makes people like that uncomfortable.

I enjoy being subversive....heh.

I didn't see that episode of Bones ('cause I try not to watch that idiotic show) but I've noticed a general trend in the forensic investigation-type shows toward making "sexually deviant" behavior look as bad as possible. And rednecks everywhere are eating it up. Blah.

What kind of digital camera are you selling, and how much? I might know someone who's in the market for one.

I'm excited about tomorrow. Whee! ^_^ Shannon might tag along if her parents don't mind watching Lynn.

It's a Canon Power Shot A400, silver and blue, with a 16MB memory card, 3.2 MegaPixels.

I'm selling it for $125. It still has the original box/manuals/cords.

Well, seeing as forensic investigation shows usually have the ultimate goal of tracing a committed crime to it's origins, anytime they utilize situations involving "sexually deviant" behavior as what lead to the crime it's going to associate the two. That being said, I think that CSI (the original and the only one worth watching) has done a fantastic job in representing most of the "kinky" groups that it has used.

This is true. I don't really watch any such shows; I just hear them from the other room when my dad is watching, and they always irritate me...but most TV does.

All of those murder mystery shows have their "S/M folks are disgusting and sick and wrong and also murderers and rapists" episodes. Even my beloved Law & Orders, all three versions.

Up until law and order: sex positive unit comes out. Maybe CSI: Kansas City will be sex positive?

sweet! I'm so glad that people know about it and are going. Dean O'Neill hasn't approved the flyers for them so I'm relying on word of mouth. Thanks for getting her in touch with me. Maybe I'll see you there!

I hope I see you! And then I can say, "Jaime, you are beautiful and twinkly*," because it is inevitably true.

(Twinkly of spirit, although I suppose you could be wearing something shiny as well.)
