These ones picked by
gender_euphoric!
1. laughing with my mom
Ever since, say, the end of college, my mom and I have been mega-pals. Especially once I moved out of her house and into the one I share with my roommate. We have a good time EVERY time we're together, and try to hang out at least once a week. People actually stop us in public and tell us how nice it is to see a mom and daughter having so much fun together. Yay, my mom!
2. definitely not coffee
Okay, so back in college, I used coffee as an aid for numerous all-nighters, although it honestly never kept me all that awake. Just restless and unfocused. I DID kind of like to drink sweet coffee creations with pals, though, at cafes and such. However! In the past couple of years, as I've decided to put less and less crap in my body, I've developed or just uncovered an intolerance for coffee. If I were to have an 8 oz cup right now, my heart would race and I'd feel freaked out and sweaty and my stomach would churn. That is what it does to me now! I can MAYBE handle a cup of half-caf when I'm traveling, as an, uh, intestinal stimulus. But otherwise, no no no.
3. buffalo everything
Yesss. It doesn't just stop at wings! Buffalo turkey burgers, buffalo tofu, buffalo tempeh. Buffalo tater tots? Maybe buffalo stir fry? It is ripe with potential.
4. create in 08
This was my theme for this year. It started well, with a lot of creative projects, many ganked from Learning to Love You More, the Miranda July book and concept. I wanted to always be in the middle of making something. It has slowed down some... so I guess I just have to rededicate myself to making time for arts and crafts!
5. using my magic bullet [Jay says: (innocent look.)]
I know, I know. It sounds dirty. Dir-tay. But the magic bullet is just that mini food processor that they sell via infomercials. You've seen them. "In just five seconds, you have a beautiful guaca-MO-LAY!" It comes with the little blender cups with handles and colorful rims that you screw on after you make your daquiri-for-one, so you don't get yours mixed up with someone else's. I like blending and making stuff! Smoothies, hummus, soups and sauces, pancake batter, whatevs!
6. mahi mahi
A delicious fish. I rub it with cumin, and that's really all it needs. Good in tacos with red cabbage and a fruit salsa. Num.
7. the daily plate
This is the website/tool that gave me a kick-start toward fitness and healthful eating. I found it about a year ago while googling for potluck recipes. I'm obsessed with math and recording things, so me + thedailyplate.com = a match made in heaven. I can say, "This is what I put in my body today. This is how much activity I got. Do I feel awesome? [X]Yes [ ]No." And as a result, I have fallen in love with my body and nourishing it and moving it all around.
