I remember one of the other things I was going to say.

Was walking down the hall yesterday. Got a whiff of Body Fantasies Body Spray in White Musk. I may have mentioned this here before, but that stuff ALWAYS takes me back to the period in my life when I was trying to butch it up a little, 'cause I thought being queer meant I had to give up being girly. White Musk smelled more like cologne than perfume, at least to me, and that's probably why I wore it. I totally dressed only in t-shirts and carpenter jeans for a little while. And pride rings on a ball-chain necklace. And sherbet-colored, old men's button-up shirts.

Hahahahaha. Who was I fooling?

I think I still have a set of freedom rings on a ball chain somewhere.

i KNOW i have some! frighteningly enough, i actually know where they are.

i remember when i came home to visit my folks for christmas the first time after i came out as a big lezzzzzzzzzzzzbian, and my mom asked me, "is that the necklace that says you are gay?"

I think mine were triangle shaped, looking back on it.

Isn't that, like, double gay?

I think it's actually gay squared, which means rainbows AND unicorns.

HOLY CRAP. Rainbow unicorns in birkenstocks?

From: [identity profile] go-team-venture.livejournal.com
No, rainbow unicorns in Docs. The dykes I ran with were definitely not the birk gays. They were the boot gays.

Right? Some things change, but some things are eternal.

Most of my friends were more Lois than Mo.

i had the big rings, and then i kept playing with them and getting my thumb stuck (ha) so i got some smaller ones. i always wanted the ones where the rings were hex nuts because i thought they were 'butcher' or something. haha. man would it be fun (read: scary) if a bunch of us got together and dressed like 1990s babydykes??

OMG, please. I was/would be so unconvincing and therefore hilarious. With my carpenter jeans w/ the hammer loop and my 26red skater shirts with aliens on them and flannel shirts. I don't know what I was thinking.

that's exactly why it would be awesome! god. a GAY EXPLOSION DANCE PARTY. can you imagine? if only i still had my 2QT2BSTR8 barcode tanktop.

You did not have a shirt that said that. You did? CRAZY!

I remember going to this place called Outwear at Rehoboth Beach and buying a black tanktop with a little rainbow triangle on it. At the counter, they sold all these CDs, which were from a house music series for, like, muscledude gogo dancers.

ha, i did. yes. technically it was my girlfriends, but i stole it when we broke up. i also had a hat that said "slut", which i really wish i still had!

i was also part of a big gay bake sale with [livejournal.com profile] ariellabella out in front of The Pink Zone in seattle (which is gone now! sniff sniff) where we sold triangle shaped cookies and pink cookies and etc to raise money to go to the 2000 march on washington.

You ARE 2 cute 2 be straight, by the way.

Hey, a party game at this Gaysplosion Partee '08 would be trying to outgay one another with gay stories of our gay pasts. Like, "I once painted a rock to look like a vag and then gave it to Bitch at a Bitch and Animal show." Which is true.

Ha, I sort of wanted the ones that were shaped like froot loops.

I'm pretty sure my old Tribe 8 shirt's been cut up for a quilt, unfortunately. What was that brand of tshirts that did all the gay wear?

It would be a real tough dude, because it would look like a necklace of ears or scalps or something. Like, souvenirs of conquered foes. (I typoed and said "cocquered" first, which is close.)

Yeah, I just picked this new one today! Flowers. Only somewhat gay.

HAHA. Mine are long thrown away. They went the same way as a ring I had with intertwining female symbols. Heh.

I've kept mine as a memento. I sometimes picture them, labeled, in a museum exhibit about me. Hank: The Gay 90s.

There would also be an Ani DiFranco tshirt and a wallet chain, I'm pretty sure.

I was actually going to mention Ani DiFranco tshirts when I was thinking of what I might wear to a We Were So Gay Party. I had the purple one that said, "Every tool is a weapon if you hold it right."

I think I had a greenish one that said the same thing.
