ink-tastic!

besubversiveWell, babies, the tattoo convention today was fabulous. It was open from noon til midnight, but me Da' and meself only stayed from noon til... 4? That's about it. After a while, there just isn't anymore to see, once you've walked around the whole thing 17 or 24 times. I saw so many scenester haircuts that I nearly died, and the Betty Page lookalikes were starting to get a wee tiresome. But there were 235435 other fun people to look at, and fun booths, and fun flash and fun pictures and fun tattoos!
The big question: Did I get a tattoo? Well, I was really aching to get one, and at one point it was nearly unbearable to see every single booth occupied with someone getting tattooed, but I stayed outta the chair because I decided to gather ideas and not ink. Oh, and darlings, gather ideas I motherfucking DID. Wanna hear?
So, on my upper left arm (my left, not your left), I want to get a chubby pin-up girl. I prefer clean lines to portraiture, so it will have that aspect. The rest, I need to work out. Maybe she'll be my inner femme... the girl I see myself to be.
On my upper right arm, and this I'll probably be pursuing first, I want to get a swallow, with thick clean lines and not a lot of little tiny details, and i want to get it in black and hot pink, and have whomever does it make it look shiny, like patent leather. No, I don't mean make my arm shiny, I mean make the bird look like it's made of patent leather... you know, with a little sliver of white in the black to make it look like light reflects off of it. And it should be pointing up (good luck) and I want to have little black old school sparklies around it. It would represent my hope for the future, as I feel I am crawling out of my blue period, being lifted kinda like the swallows were supposed to lift a drowning sailor from the ocean.
I apologize for not talking completely coherently, I'm just rather excited.
At some point, I also want to get something small that pays homage to the butch/femme dynamic... maybe incorporating the blue star that represents butch and adding a pink femme star of my own design... because I like my girls and my boys butch.
The other thing that intrigued me, and I've been looking for an example to link to in order to better explain this... is that kind of really stylized pulp comic where the woman's and man's faces are almost touching and she's thinking a little thought bubble "oh, no, i left the stove on" or "oh john, take me now" ... and sometimes she has a tear about to fall. that sorta comic, it would be neat to have a frame of that done, worked up in a way that I fancied.
Bottom line, I left with some great ideas, some great tshirts and more clues as to where I want to go to get a few things done.
Now: Who's good and artisty and can draw me some tats?
