Time for Taking Care of Myself!

Despite feeling, lately, a nearly overwhelming urge to hide under my comforter and never leave my bed again, I think I've got to start proactively persuing the company (companies?) of the handful of fun and interesting Delawareans I have the good fortune to be acquainted with.

In short: Friends are nice. Local friends are especially nice.

Wanna hang out? My weekend is looking pretty vacant.

(Also, what guy ever walks through a Macy's or a JCPenney's, in the men's department around this time of year, and says to himself, "Gadzooks! This motorized 360-degree tie-hanger is just what I need!" or "Eureka! A combination radio/flashlight/poker chip sorter! Extremely useful!" Do the department stores really make a killing on electric thermoses (sp?) that plug into a car's cigarette lighter or NASCAR Monopoly or shave kits that double as flat-tire repair kits? I wondered this today while at the mall with my mom. In fact, I wondered it aloud and my mom seconded my wonder. Hmm.)

All of those items get sold to people with uncles and cousins and tachers they have to appear with gifts for. I have an acquaintance who is a sixth grade teacher and ends up with a stack of that crap every December.

i bet said man doesn't think that he needs that stuff, but the people in his family do, maybe because he is uncommunicative or distant and never talks to anyone, especially not about anything he wants.

um, i mean, maybe people love those!
