Two things I forgot to mention last night:
My mother bought me sushi for dinner. That's love, kids.
Also, I think Linkin Park should do an instrumental CD, or like, without words or whatever. Because while their lyrics aren't BAAAAD, they tend to sound the same (esp. pitch, tone, delivery) from song to song. What's clever about them is some of their mixing and the like.
Okay... one more thing, but don't read it if hearing about me and kink in the same paragraph grosses you out:
I'm thinking about attending a Munch (BDSM'ers brunch to discuss stuff and happenings) or two to see whether or not I'd be interested in getting involved in the "scene." On my list of things to do in 2004 is receiving a flogging. In fact, I'd like to make this flogger that we saw at the Transcending Boundaries conference that a girl, whose kink is rope of any sort, had made. It was one really long length of cord (like, 5 feet or something) that you make into little tails by doubling sections and making a knot at the end of each. After you have 20 or so tails, you wrap the rest of the rope around the top and make a sturdy handle. I only wish I could remember exactly how to do it...
I should start a Kink for Pennies journal, but i bet one already exists. There are just so many things out there, cheap and readily available, to stock a poor college student's toybox with. I mean, with 10 bucks and a trip to the Dollar Tree, you could come home with, for example: One of those long plastic shoehorns (for spanking purposes), a leather or nylon collar, a length of chain to hook up to the forementioned collar, wooden clothespins, rope, boot polish, a chamois cloth, cheap stockings (for those that like to cut garments off of people), and just for fun, gummy handcuffs (I know the dollar tree in Allentown carries them.) That's 9 things...and then you take the remaining dollar, go to Lowe's and buy a couple of those long wooden dowels in varying thicknesses, and you got yourself something to cane someone with, or be caned with.
Also, I'd like to learn to be a boot black... mmm.

Date: 2004-01-14 01:16 pm (UTC)it all sounds very interesting! it's not my cup of tea, but it's interesting to hear about other people's experiences and impressions.
i have a friend who used cat collars and clothesline and rigged up a spread-eagle restraint device that went underneath her matress, since she didn't have a head and footboard for her bed. i thought the whole thing was ingenious, even though the thought of being restrained freaks me out. ;) and it was cheap! she spent about $15 on the whole thing and has had (apparently) hours and hours of enjoyment. that's a bargain, baby!
and mmm. sushi sounds gooooood...!! ;)

Yum, sushi!

Date: 2004-01-15 07:57 am (UTC)Many people, and at first myself, find BDSM to go against certain beliefs/morals. To me, though, it's about exploring taboo in a safe place with other people who understand that that's what it is. For instance, I would never call anyone a slut, and if I hear anyone do such, I give them the ol' "why are men studs and girls sluts?" working over. However, I enjoy being called all sorts of degrading names in bed. There are soooo many kinksters who are feminists through and through... like me!

Date: 2004-01-14 03:13 pm (UTC)Also, PetCo is grand for bdsm toys. I used to work there so I should know. Just talk a walk around and see all the random things hanging up. I got a beautiful black collar with spikes and silver inlays, I wear it sometimes to punk shows since wearing it as a Top is silly and I'm not in an exclusive bdsm relationship where I'd need it for collaring.
Oh, and join this community (http://www.livejournal.com/community/budget_bdsm/), if you will. It doesn't get a lot of posts but people are always willing to respond if you have questions.
I think that's all for now.
