Friday night = sushi, bottles of wine, smoking a Rum and Sugar cigar, poetry readings, bead counting, ice cream fried in tempura, and lots of philosophical talk. It was GREAT.

I didn't really get to see the other winning ones. I know 2nd place was a girl with a foot tattoo.

You just sign up and pay the registration fee (it was $10, apparently that's pretty typical). Then you get a number and when they are judging your category (black and grey small, color large, portraiture, back pieces), you go up when they call your number. And then the judges write down scores and they are tallyed... and then awards are presented at the very end. That's how. :)
