A water valve busted in the ceiling this morning. Not my ceiling! The school's. It sounded like a sudden rainstorm in the hallway. Gallons of water were gushing between and around and through ceiling tiles for, like, twenty minutes. Entertaining! We (the office staff) all cracked jokes while we watched it pour. Oh man, what a mess.
Tonight, Sauvignon Blanc.
I'm serving mahi mahi (halibut was too expensive), pan seared, over haricot verts (fancyass for little French green beans) in a white wine butter sauce with scallions and diced tomatoes. And a lemony orzo salad with basil and mint and stuff. My dad is making a citrus and arugula salad to start the meal.
Guys, I seriously love food. SRSLY.
Oh! And I meant to write about the wine tasting that I did the other day with Mom and JD. We went to two wineries, Chadds Ford and Paradocx, and the pourers at both let us taste more than we actually paid to taste. Seventeen wines in all, actually! The highlights, for me, were the Sangria at Chadds Ford and the Viognier, Sangiovese, and something they call Whitewash at Paradocx.
Also (and this definitely deserves its own paragraph), the Muscat at Paradocx. Oh. My. God. It smelled like a tangly, hidden garden full of honeysuckle. And, uh, kind of like bales of hay. Sweet, floral, full of sunshine. The taste definitely reminded me of that little drop of nectar at the bottom of a honeysuckle flower. Plus orange blossoms and, gosh, I don't know. It was amazing. The three of us sipped our little samples as slowly as we could. At $40 for 375 mL, it was certainly out of our price range, but GOODNESS am I still dreaming about it!
