That is your warning; tales of mishaps and irritation follow.
Today I:
- slipped and fell in the hallway where a thick coating of floor wax had just been applied. slid on my hands and knees for about a foot. had to slide back over to a handhold and pull myself into a doorway. damage: entire front of pants, knees down, coated in water and floorwax. flipflops and tops of feet drenched in said wax. wax on the hands, arms, elbows, ankles. subsequent stinging and itchiness.
- had to go home because of my stupid stupid fall. had to take a shower and put on new clothes.
- arrived home to a ridiculous note from Shelly reading thusly: "I TOLD YOU TO PUT AWAY THOSE THREE COOKBOOKS! DO NOT USE THEM AGAIN." I sat down and wrote a two page snarky note asking if I was barred from using just The Good Housekeeping Cook Book and American Classics Without The Fuss, or our entire collection of food-related how-to material. I ended up not leaving the note, as such an action might have invited familial drama.
- had to shout at my brother about (1) shaving, (2) leaving his phone in my car, (3) lying, (4) playing his video games when he should have been mowing, and (5) leaving the upstairs TV on while he is in the basement doing something else.
- realized that I am truly flummoxed by the new library cataloguing software at the Resource Center. WhatTheFuck, truly.
- got called out on being bad at maintaining friendships that aren't local.
- cried and flipped through the contacts in my cell phone for someone to call and seek comfort from. Realized I don't know who would be okay with offering such a thing. It's like I don't think I deserve real friends. I'm so afraid someone who has been perfectly decent to me in past situations will be hesitant to lend an ear or some time, and that I'll be more of a bother than anything. Grah!! Grerrr! Damn!
But a frozen boozy drink and some quality time with Mom makes it all tolerable.
