Oct. 2nd, 2008 09:10 pmI opened my Paradocx Muscat Ottonel last night after a dinner with Tina, Harrison, her parents and his mom. We had amazing salmon, a salad and warm slices of a sourdough baguette, with a pumpkin cake I bought on the way home for dessert. Before we started in on the cake, I was seized by the feeling that THIS was the right time to open my treasured muscat. Oh lord, it's good. Like honeysuckle and orange blossoms. The stuff is $40 for a half-bottle, and they were down to twelve bottles the last time I visited the Paradocx tasting room. Anyway, it was oohed and aahed over by all who had some. Tina's dad, in particular, was thoroughly sold on it.
So today, Harrison's mom expressed interest on taking a trip to do a tasting at Paradocx. We ladies jumped in the car and trekked up, and to my surprise, they still had TWO bottles of their muscat left. After some inner deliberation, I decided to buy one for my mom, who is having a birthday next month. She will flip because she loves it, but would never spend that much money on any beverage for herself AND she thought they would be sold out by now. It will probably be saved until Xmas, and I'll be around when it gets opened. I hope!
I'm cleaning, because I'll be having a gentleman caller visiting this weekend. Laundry, vacuuming, taking out trash, hanging up and putting away clothes, and I HAVE to remember to buy a new shower curtain liner.
Tomorrow is my last day at work. (You say: "We know already, GEEZ!") Bittersweet! Much more sweet than bitter, though. The administrators are treating me to lunch and I have chosen Giovanni's Place, which has the most awesome pizzas. Like sesame chicken pizza and buffalo wing pizza and eggplant parm pizza. And today they made an announcement during homeroom about my leaving, and one of my favorite students poked his head in the office a bit later and said that he'd miss seeing me. And two speech pathologists talked to me in the main office and said they would miss my voice on the PA system during dismissals. Because apparently I have good enunciation? And a pleasant, professional speaking voice? Things I am excited to hear.
