I ran into my roommate at the gym last night. She was leaving about halfway through my workout on the elliptical, but came over before she left and said, without sarcasm, "Roomie, you look fabulous." That made my day. I'm a pretty intense exerciser, so my face gets red and my arms get sweaty and my bangs hang all damp and slicked together. Not a vision of loveliness, but maybe a vision of determination, at least? Anyhow, I was glowing from the compliment. I'm fortunate to have such a thoughtful roommate.

(Also, she recently said to me, "You know what makes me happy? Because this has worked out so well, I have another good friend. Someone who will come to my wedding. Someone who I'll know forever." I totally reciprocate the sentiment.)

Left my phone at home. Oh dear!

There's a meeting for school secretaries after work today. It's in the same building as my mom's office. We'll be reviewing registration procedures. Basically, it's gonna be a yawn-fest. But I WILL get to stop in and see my mom, who has coupons and a craigslist printer I bought and a summery purse for me.

After being mildly frustrated over not being able to get in touch with my best friend, and probably because I've listened to his RUN DMC ringtone one too many times, I made up a jokey diss rhyme. It just started coming together in my head while I was driving. I got home and wrote it down, and I've already let him know that the next time he doesn't pick up the phone, I'm gonna leave it on his voicemail. Bwaha! So brutal! Not really. If (or when, rather) that happens, I'll post the lyrics here for your (or perhaps just my own) amusement.
