First, a query to all charitable souls in possible positions of help:

Does anyone have an old Verizon-compatible cell phone that they no longer use? Mine broke in half, which I remorsefully related here a few days ago; as it turns out, my dad did not have it insured and my warranty won't cover it. I figured I would ask here before looking on eBay, because many of my friends are serious about communication and upgrade their phones, I'm sure, when possible. I do not have the money for anything new at retail value, and am looking then for something used and a in a smaller price range of $50ish or less (although "or less" is shamefully optimistic).

Anyway, this is a good place to say that if you have old cell phones of any kind, you should consider donating them to your local battered women shelter, because even if they are no longer connected to a wireless provider, they can still be used to dial 911.

So, I haven't the energy now for anything fancier than a good ol' Plus/Minus List (or Minus/Plus, in this case):

--- The broken phone, plus everything else that seems to happen just when its potential for screwing stuff up is at its highest.
-- Not hearing anything (yet) from the library job I so wanted.
-- The quality of the internet here.
-- The task of re-boxing every one of my possessions in this house (which means rummaging in the attic, my closet, the garage and two sheds).
- The YMCA is way too expensive to even consider, I think. Plus, it's not exactly convenient, distance-wise.
- Feeling kind of unattractive lately.
- A general but ever-present feeling of malaise.

+ My mom is trying to coax me out of my funk, which is sweet.
++ I got to see people I really enjoy this past weekend, and I'll see them again next weekend and the weekend after, as well.
++ I have that $55 in unclaimed pay to collect at some point, which is a little bit of awesome.
+++ My boyfriend is fucking amazing.
+++ If hot sex was money, I could stop looking for a job right now. Whew.

While trading recollections of nice parts of the day with [livejournal.com profile] wondernugget, I remembered a plus on my Minus/Plus List that I forgot to include in the last post:

++ I had an eye exam today. I really like eye exams. Partially, it is because I enjoy answering the "Is this clearer or is THIS clearer" and "What is the last line you can read" questions. Also, the doctor sits really close to look in my eyes and eyes are such neat things anyway. I feel like she's checking out the bottom of the ocean when she peers in and examines my rods and cones and eye parts. It's probably the best time I could have while visiting a doctor of any sort. There's no weighing involved, no bodily judgements, and I always have a tiny sense of accomplishment when I follow the penlight well or manage not to blink when she's peeking in my eyes.

PLUS, there's always the excitement of getting to pick out a new pair of glasses. New frames, YAY! Actually, I have loved my last four pairs of glasses, ever since I started picking out thick plastic frames. There was a plain black squarish kind, then my awesome rhinestone pair, then the super librarianish clear blue/green/yellow ones, and the ones I currently wear--a very rectangly pair that go from black to a creamy tortoise shell, top to bottom. The ones I picked out today are still kind of rectangly, but they get wider on the outsides; they were either these or these. I hope they get here quick!

The only part that is NOT pleasant about the whole experience is when she checks the pressure of my eyes by putting drops of yellow stuff in them. It makes me feel like my sockets get crowded, and that's gross.

In conclusion, eye exams = AWESOME.
