queer family reunion, like

Yesterday was fantastic. Missy and I went down to the queer picnic. Sadly, not many more people showed up besides us and a couple of other Cedar Crest kids. Even so, we had an amazing time. I made four spin art pictures, danced, played with hula hoops, bounced around in an inflatable jousting arena with a bunch of people, had lots of A-treat soda and cotton candy, and won two bars of fancy homemade soap with shapes in it, two stuffed animals, 4 tickets to a Blue Rocks game, and a $25 gift certificate to a fancy restaurant in Media called D'Ignazio's Towne House. Also, Missy won $30 to give to OutThere. All of this, and for just a $2 entrance fee. What fun!!

Trenton bought the website, and I've been drawing oodles of robots.

Today is the day for room cleaning, parent calling, assignment doing, and to-do list tackling. Yup. I guess I ought to get on that. Mmm hmm. ... Like, now.

Okay, now.

(no subject)

My fantastic doll of a roommate brought me a can of Pumpkin Spice Chai from Borders this afternoon. Borders honestly makes some of the best chai out there. I plan on stirring some up tonite, so Carly and I can sip in reverence.

I called my mom this afternoon and had a nice little chat with her. The best thing about the phone call, though, was talking to my brother. I fucking LOVE my little brother. Apparently he was invited to join this program called KBG, or Kick Butts Generation. It's sorta like the truth.com organization, mostly for middle school and high school kids. They work on anti-smoking campaigns and public service announcements. He went to a weekend camp and met all these great people who just think the world of him. Apparently, he talked with all these girls, and they all told him how he was such a good listener and not like other guys they know. On the phone, he thanked me for trying to instill openmindedness and kindness in him. He said he's glad he doesn't feel the need to conform to some meathead stereotype of a teenage boy. I'm really glad he's becoming involved in a group where he feels appreciated. It makes me smile for miles.

Trenton got an email confirmation that says we're free to play with the website now. I told my brother and my mom all about it, and they thought it sounded like a neat idea. I spent much of today and last night drawing new robots, and I scanned and sent them all to the boyfriend for coding. I am so glad I am dating someone who is web savvy. I know absolutely nothing about the making of a website.

Every single day gives me something that further demonstrates how fantastic Trenton is for me. I love that.

Book List 8/23/04 to 8/23/05

I've decided to keep track of all the books I read for the next year, and to come back to this entry every time I've finished one and add it to the list. And I'll keep this entry in my memories for easy access. I'll start with the first day of classes, since I've read a few books since school started. Oh, and it can be a book I've read before, as long as I reread the entire thing.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker
White Teeth by Zadie Smith
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Journey to the East by Herman Hesse
The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett

I thought about doing this with movies, but I get the feeling I might lose track. I can't remember all the movies I've seen since classes started. Certainly there have been about 15 whole ones and parts of handfuls more. So for now, I stick with books.

Aaaaaaand.... GO.
